The whole province of Catania offers great natural, cultural and historical wealth.
The coastline from Taormina, even though in the province of Messina, has many breathtaking views. Many of these places deserve particular mention: Acireale with its splendid churches and its ancient thermal baths, Acitrezza for the Faraglionis which according to legend were cast against Ulysses by the Cyclops Polifemo, Acicastello with the fortress of King Martino on a precipice over the sea. The western part of Etna is also splendid and offers many wonderful attractions. To the south is the plain where the famous Sicilian oranges grow.
Catania and the province is a inique area rich in nature and the beautiful things man can create and produce. This area is "quardedï" by two females: Etna able to destroy but also bringing wealth and prosperity, and SantAgata with her goodness and protection. The oldest is Sant'Agata, beautiful and reassuring, splendid but serene. The other, the youngest one, is Etna, beautiful but a source of anxiety, splendid but turbulent. Both, however, contribute to the well being of the city.
