The story banks of the Platani still pass near the Valley of the Temples, a magical spot where prehistory and Hellenistic civilization is superimposed by Roman civilization up to the early Christian era and beyond. The magnificence of the temple of Olympian Jupiter, the surviving columns of the Temple of Castor and Pollux, the remains of the temple of Hercules, that of Concord or that of Juno represent an ensemble in which history re-emerges from the silence of the centuries.
